The Farmhouse

With a wealth of beamed ceilings, real wood floors and beautiful honey-coloured stone walls throughout, the farmhouse provides welcome respite from the heat of the summer sun and is beautifully furnished.
Built approximately 200 years ago, this lovely old Quercy stone farmhouse is on 3 floors and features three bedrooms ; two bedrooms (one twin and one double) and a bathroom on the first floor, plus a large, king size bedroom plus shower room and separate WC on the lower ground floor. The lounge/dining room and kitchen are located on the ground floor.
The kitchen is fully fitted and includes range style oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and everything you need to cook (and wash up after) a family dinner, should you choose to abandon the barbecue at any time.
The lounge/dining area has an attractive ‘inglenook’ fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating. In addition, there is a television with British channels and DVD player plus a stereo/CD player. A large oak dining table and, again, ample seating provide the perfect place for a family meal or restful breakfast. The views are over open fields and countryside to the rear and the terrace and garden to the front.
A beautiful oak open-tread staircase leads to the first floor on which you will find a twin bedroom and double bedroom, both with ample storage space, and a modern bathroom/WC.
The lower ground floor, reached via another wooden staircase, reveals a large, lavishly furnished king-size bedroom, a shower room and separate WC. This bedroom leads via large glass doors to a small private terrace – ideal for breakfast ‘à deux’ under the newly risen sun.
Directly in front of the farmhouse is a large sunny terrace with teak tables and chairs – parasols are provided to protect diners or loungers from the full force of the sun. Beyond this terrace is a lawned area on which children can play under the watchful eye of their parents.
Steps lead from this terrace to the swimming pool which is protected by a laser alarm (a legal requirement) and fully enclosed for additional safety. Parents should note however that the pool is unsupervised and appropriate care should be taken in its environs. Every care has been taken to make Fournou as child-friendly as possible and we can provide cots, cot bedding and high chairs if required. Stairgates can be fitted on request.
Co-ordinating bedlinen and towels are provided free of charge and we offer to change them every Saturday. A washing machine is also provided for guests’ use in a laundry room on the lower ground floor.
